The "Corazon Classic Match" on 30 May will benefit the investigation of the sudden death of athletes

Carlos Cristobal / Translation by realmadrid.com

Real Madrid and AC Milan have joined forces to put on a benefit match that will see all proceeds donated to the investigation and prevention of the sudden death of athletes. Former players of both sides will meet in the "Corazon Classic Match 2010" on 30 May.

Joining Real Madrid President Florentino Perez at the presentation of the match were Alfredo di Stefano, Casillas, Kaka and Sergio Ramos. Also on hand were Milan VP Adriano Galliani, Spanish Olympic Committee President Alejandro Blanco, VP of the Community of Madrid Ignacio Gonzalez, Jorge Valdano, Emilio Butragueño and Ettore Messina.

"It is an honor to present this benefit match that will pair two great teams and many extraordinary players. Football is emotion, history, rivalry, passion and friendship," opened Perez, "Football has a tremendous ability to create situations such as this one." "This match is to help reduce and prevent the sudden death of athletes," added Galliani, "It has no explanation and is very painful, so participating in such an initiative is an honor."

"I grew up watching many of the players who will be here on 30 May," added Casillas, while Ramos touched upon the recent losses of several colleagues by stating, "We have experienced several tragic episodes that have no reason whatsoever. We must do more to continue into the investigation and prevention of such events."
